News: Black Professor Punches Out a White Colleague in Conversation Over Race
A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.
Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.
McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school's theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.
The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said.
LIONEL McINTYRE "Unfortunate event."
McIntyre, who is known as "Mac" at the bar, shoved Davis, and when the other patron and a bar employee tried to break it up, the prof slugged Davis in the face, witnesses said.
"The punch was so loud, the kitchen workers in the back heard it over all the noise," bar back Richie Velez, 28, told The Post. "I was on my way over when he punched Camille and she fell on top of me."

Random Hookups and Liquor Can Lead to HIV
It's a warm summer night. A young man sits on the corner of Broadway and 12th Street in downtown Oakland sipping from a bottle of Hennessey. Bored and looking for a sexual fling with no strings attached, the young man dials up The Biosphere, a popular social networking tool that anyone with access to a phone can use to meet people in their area. It's basically a party line for random hookups and one-time sexual encounters.
As soon as he gets through, he hears the disclaimer that The Biosphere is not responsible for any actions or consequences that may result from meeting someone online. An hour later, the young man finds himself in the company of a complete stranger -- names don't matter since they're probably all made up. Besides, the odds are against the two of them making a love connection. Ten minutes in, they're engaged in some extremely risky behavior.
The young man is only 17, a senior in high school, from a good home, and curious about exploring his sexuality.

Rapper Vigalantee Weighs in on Jay Z's Beef with Beanie Sigal
Did Jigga Get Charlamagne Tha God Fired from His Job?
The people at Media Outrage did an interview with an insider at 100.3 The Beat to see if Jigga really did have a role in getting Charlamagne Tha God Fired over his interview with Beanie Sigal. Here’s what they had to say:
MO: Was Charlamagne fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?
Person: Yes, I am %100 sure that he was let go because of his interview with Beanie Sigel.
MO: So you’re not speculating like the rest of us right now?
Person: No
MO: Why would they do that though, knowing that that interview brought high ratings?
Person: You have to understand as I’m very sure that he already does, the station has to maintain an amicable relationship with Jay-Z and his camp because this man is the biggest rapper in the game right now. Infact, he’s not really even a rapper anymore. He’s a business. So you can’t risk ruining a relationship like that just to draw ratings. A radio personality can always be replaced and with the proper set-up, put in a position to succeed. It’s better for the station to replace that person than ruin a relationship with someone who has been on top of the game for years now.
MO: So you are saying that you are really %100 sure that Charlamagne was fired because of his interview with Beanie Sigel?
Person: Yes. I can’t really go into the particulars but that’s what I was told. Is it foul? Yes. This is the business that we are in though.
MO: Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us.

Is Rihanna Taking Responsibility for her Own Actions?
In the midst of Rihanna finally opening up about Chris Brown abusing her, some people feel that she also needs to admit her wrongdoing in the situation. The National Coalition for Men has stated that they support Chris Brown, and that they now want Rihanna to take responsibility for her reported violence against Chris.
Pop singer Rihanna recently made a widely publicized statement to Glamour Magazine that she wants to "shed light on the reality of domestic violence." The National Coalition For Men (NCFM) calls on Rihanna to discuss her own reported violence against Brown as well if she wants to shed light on the problem honestly.
According to court records and other sources, Rihanna struck Brown in the face "numerous times" before Brown assaulted her ('http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainment/768865/rihanna-hit-chris-brow...). NCFM purports although that would not justify his more severe assault, her violence should not be ignored, and if she does not "woman up" to it then her message will be the usual one-sided double standards that leave female perpetration covered up.
The saying, "There is no excuse for domestic violence," applies to both sexes. Female violence in relationships is not rare but is often hypocritically deemed acceptable or humorous, such as in the film, Sideways. It is part of the cycle of domestic violence, which cannot be stopped without addressing the problem honestly. Children are damaged just by witnessing domestic violence, regardless of its severity.

Tyra Banks Causes Controversy Over Black Face
Tyra Banks is always trying to do something over the top on her show America’s Next Top Model, especially now since the ratings are low. On the most recent episode of the show Tyra painted the girls so that they would appear biracial, and some people were not to happy about it. This episode comes only a few weeks after French Vogue was criticized for painting model Lara Stone in black face for the October issue. Personally, I don’t find either of these displays of black face offensive considering they are not mocking biracial and African American people in a negative way. Also if I recall correctly this is not the first time Tyra has done this on the show, but I could be wrong.

What’s Really Going on in the Industry?
For the past few months I have been hearing a lot of talk about several of the top industry people being involved in a secret society or boule where they have to “sell their souls” to be excepted. Now I don’t know how true or untrue this secret society stuff is, but I do find it strange that some celebs have recently been exposing the industry claiming there are several people in the industry that are devil worshipers. Last week Tiffany Evans went in on the industry after hearing Rhianna’s new single “Russian Roulette” stating,
“Man! I really wish I could tell you guys what the industry really is and what stars are apart of destroying this world. The stars who worship satan, and those who have killed to get the respect they have now. You’d be verrrry surprise. Some of your favorite people pretend to worship God but they only do that to save face. Or seem innocent.”
Now this week Omarion is basically saying the same thing.
“…[and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.”
Wow, I wonder if anyone will come out denying these rumors about the industry?

Rocsi Responds to the Rumors
As of recently 106 & Park’s Rocsi has been receiving a bad reputation of sleeping around, which may have something to do with her being rumored of sleeping with Lisa Raye’s husband or ex-husband (I can never remember if the divorce has been finalized yet). Anyways, in a recent interview with Honeymag.com Rocsi decided to set the record straight, and let everyone know she is not an industry hoe. Read what she had to say below.
“I think a lot of these Web sites need a story. They need to find somebody to pick on, and I just so happen to be one of those girls. I’ve always had that coming up against Free on a black network and not being black.”
“With men in my life, I’ve always made good choices. I would love to think that. It’s just really hard to trust people, and that’s just coming from not knowing everybody’s intentions,” Rocsi says.
“It hurts when my brothers call me,” Rocsi says. “I mean it’s real bad when it gets to the point where everything’s so unbearable. You really got to have that strength, because if I didn’t have that strength in me, I would kill myself. There are some days when I’m like ‘How bad do I want to kill myself right now? What is the point of going on when so many people despise me or hate what I do?’”
“I got where I’m at because of my work,” Rocsi insists. “I never had to lay on my back to get where I was. I come from a Latino background where family and the way we were brought up was very important. That’s how we conducted ourselves as ladies. And that’s a very important thing to my family, so yeah, when these blogs come out and they start talking shit — you’re messing with what my parents instilled in me. And I know it isn’t true. But I’m glad I have great family members who know that I wasn’t brought up that way, to not be blinded by this industry.”

The former pop couple decided to release their first official post-incident songs just three weeks apart. Chris' "I Can Transform Ya," featuring Lil' Wayne and Swizz Beatz, was released on September 19, and Rihanna's eerie "Russian Roulette" ballad premiered on her site, RihannaNow.com, Tuesday.

The lyrics of both songs are quite suggestive.

DAVE CHAPPELLE LOSES HIS ENDURANCE TITLE
Funnyman DAVE CHAPPELLE failed in his attempt to set a new record for comedy endurance - by walking offstage during his performance to go to the bathroom.
The comic took the stage at Hollywood's Laugh Factory on Sunday (28Oct09) in a bid to break the club record for the longest time on stage, previously set by Dane Cook in a seven-hour, 34-minute marathon last year (08).
However, Chappelle's attempt to outdo Cook failed after five hours when he was disqualified by owner Jamie Masada for taking a bathroom break.
The original record was set by the late Richard Pryor who spent two hours and 41 minutes on stage in 1980. Chappelle previously recorded a time of six hours before Cook's triumph in 2008.

According to MTV.com, computer security blog Sophos.com tracked the bogus story to hackers who used the rumor to push the false reports to the top of Internet search engine results. By Wednesday morning (Oct. 21), "Kanye West died" (and variations of the phrase) had become one of the most-searched topics on Google Trends.

FIRST LADY LOOKS FAB ON THE COVER OF GLAMOUR
It may only be October, but Michelle Obama already seems to be in the holiday spirit, at least when it comes to posing for the festive-feeling December cover of Glamour.
Of course, her status as a fashionista has sometimes been open for debate, and that's something Mrs. Obama has come to expect.
"People are always going to have opinions, and people have a right to their opinions, particularly when you're the First Lady; you're representing the nation," she tells the mag. "So I can't be surprised that people are interested. But I've tried to be at peace with the choices that I make first, and then be open to everyone else's reflection."

Review: Michael’s Movie is Gooooood
Believe the hype. This Is It dispels any doubts about Michael Jackson's creative genius.
Clearly separating him from other artists of his day, longtime collaborator and the film's director Kenny Ortega emphasizes exactly why Michael Jackson earned his "King of Pop" title. Culled from more than one hundred hours of footage, This Is It goes beyond the best of Michael Jackson's rehearsal reels. Instead, Ortega - better known now for directing the High School High Musical films than his many other achievements which include co-creating and co-directing Jackson's Dangerous and HIStory world tours, elects to highlight Michael Jackson's creative process and erases any doubt that what you saw with Michael came from anybody but him and God.
In a world of manufactured music where contemporary artists, many with big names, are unable to sing and dance simultaneously, This Is It reminds us that Michael Jackson was of a generation of cultivated and honed talent where practice did indeed make perfect. There was no resting on laurels with Michael Jackson. It wasn't just magic. It was tireless work and effort - the two attributes that aren't often applied to the genius of African-American performers so liberally.
